The complete list of contenders for The Game Awards 2022, which are set for December 8 and will feature 31 categories, has been released. The selection of games up for the largest prizes of the year is amazing. While some of the lesser, more critically acclaimed games have also earned slots in numerous categories, AAA megatons are prominently included.
The battle for Game of the Year, the largest category, is fierce, with titles like A Plague Tale: Requiem, Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 among the nominees.
All six of those games have also been nominated in numerous additional categories. In terms of representation, God of War Ragnarok leads the pack with ten nominations across nine categories (including two for Best Performance). Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, and Stray each received seven nominations, followed by A Plague Tale: Requiem with five and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 with three.
The “Most Anticipated” category also includes some of the biggest upcoming blockbusters of 2023, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Resident Evil 4, Hogwarts Legacy, and Final Fantasy 16.
